In South Indian they put a spice mixture on top of white rice or on dosa and idli called Chutney Pudi. I have a recipe but it is a ground powder and quite hot. It is a substance that is added just before you eat the rice. If you go to an Indian grocery store, they may have it already made.

Mary.....
Thanks for the reply. I think that sounds exactly like what I've been looking for. Does it turn the rice an orange color? Could you post/email me the recipe? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance :-)

HI,
Could you please gimme the recipe for that pudi, our indian store has it but doesnt taste good.I remember trying this chuney powder in chennai, and I loved it.
also some chutney for idli and dosas, I cant make any of then good, some thing goes wrong everytime.
also I tried making crispy dosas and they never turn out to be crispy,, no matter how thin they are, by the time they r on plate they become soft.i use the following proportion
dosa:
2 cups rice (normal)little poha, methi seeds and 1 cup urad dal.
idli:
2 cups: boiled rice
1 cup: normal rice
1 cup: urad dal
it would be great if you could reply to this
thanks a lot anyways
