subject: Sticky Buns

I am having problems with baking sticky buns that are not done in the middle. My recipe makes 12 buns. The topping consists of brown sugar, Karo syrup and butter. I bake them in a 10x10x2 shiny aluminum pan. The topping occupies approx. 1/8 to 1/4 in height. What am I doing wrong, or how can I prevent this from happening again?
