![]() by Fred McMillin for April 3, 1997 The Larsen Legend Prologue: "The Larsens have farmed their Sonoma land for 100 years"...from personal correspondence. "[The Larsen's] Sonoma Creek Winery makes...Cabernet Sauvignon that is full-bodied with considerable aging potential, offering good value"...by Prof. John Baxevanis in "The Wine Regions of America." The Rest of the Story: with such a thorough knowledge of the Sonoma Valley, the Larsens were naturals to found a winery, which they did exactly 10 years ago. Sales have expanded steadily, helped in part by their substantial Cabernets like the '93 Reserve at a very reasonable $15. My tasters RARELY come up with a unanimous verdict, but they did with this one; usually at least 15% dislike any wine, but not this time. Every ballot rated the wine good or better. Case closed.
