A Second Label to Remember

Second labels are used by wineries to dispose of their lesser wines at lower prices. Right? Not so for Round Hill's second label called Rutherford Ranch. In fact, a few years ago the Wine Spectator said the Rutherford Ranch was "the most outstanding of the four Cabernets that Round Hill produced that year." This recently-released 1993 deserves similar kudos. Fifteen months in oak and further bottle aging have created a mellow, sweet-oak backdrop for the pleasing cherry flavors. Last, there's the price.. only eleven bucks. My panel hasn't tasted a better Cab at that price in the last six months.

1993 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Rutherford Ranch (second label of Round Hill Vineyards) St. Helena, Napa Valley, CA phone—(707) 963-5251 $11

Highly Recommended in its price range
