You are buying a Chardonnay for tonight.
Should you purchase a 1997 or one of the newer 1998s?
To get an idea, we paired four California 1997s
with four, equally-priced 1998s. My Presidio Cafe
Panel rated the wrapped bottles and here are the
results. The highest-rated wine is listed last.

Comment: No doubt there are 1998 Chardonnays aging in winery cellars that will do very well when released. Meanwhile, tonight I'm buying a '97.
