My panel just tasted one of those "excellent examples." Since it garnered a gold and a silver soon after its 1997 release, I put a bottle in the cellar for a spell. It was time well spent. With an extra year, it came out of the basement mighty silky. Panelist Edgar Vogt wrote, "Wow! Drink now." Wine of the Day
1995 Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley, WA Postscript Washington reds are to be taken seriously. The Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago held a tasting of over 560 U.S.A. reds. Twenty eight percent of the California entries were put in the top category. Washington wines making the top category...31%!
