Who Won Global Gourmet's
Wine World Series,
Napa or Sonoma?

For our Wine World Series, we matched the two best wine districts in the New World, Napa vs. Sonoma. Each team had 45 members. For example, in the first inning the five best Napa Chardonnays were up against the five best Sonoma Chardonnays.

Here are the winners by inning:

2nd	Sonoma Dry Creek Vineyards, Musque-Sauvignon Blanc, $25
3rd	Napa Domaine Carneros, Brut Rosé Sparkler, $36
4th	Napa Peju Provence, Zinfandel, $28
5th	Sonoma Gary Farrell, Star Ridge Pinot Noir, $50
6th	Sonoma Hawkes Vineyards, Merlot, $30
7th	Sonoma Dry Creek Vineyards, Endeavour Cabernet Sauvignon, $55
8th	Napa Hess Collection, 19 Block Cuvée, Red Blend, $35

 

So we are all tied. Each district has won four innings going into the ninth.

The Winner Is...
9th	Napa Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Dessert Eisrebe, $50 (375ml)

 

Conclusion

So Napa won our Wine World Series, but Sonoma was only a sip behind.

I never promised you a Rosé garden...

Global Gourmet reader Rose V. asked this question about her namesake wine, ro-zay: "What are the best rosé wines your panel has tasted recently?" Here they are in alphabetical order:

• Kenwood Vineyards, Pinot Noir Rosé, $13
• Pedroncelli Vineyards, Zinfandel Dry Rosé, $10
• Steele Wines, Cabernet Franc Rosé, $15
