The long awaited follow-up to Vintage Cocktails, Cocktail Hour celebrates the glamour and the glory of cocktails—their ascension during Prohibition and continued popularity through the pre- and post- World War II years. One hundred different recipes are included, along with vintage illustrations and memorabilia, giving the social history (sometimes scandalous) of each libation.
There is a refresher course on the 12 Vintage Classics—the Martini, the Tequila Sunrise, the Daiquri, the Mai Tai, the Manhattan, the Margarita, the Bloody Mary, the Gimlet, the Gin and Tonic, the Highball, the Screwdriver, and the Tom Collins.
Oldies but goodies to consider are the Alexander the Great, the Bee's Kiss, the Bronx (original), the Goldfish, and the Rusty Nail to name a few.
And don't forget the celebrity cocktails—the Jean Harlow, the Marlene Dietrich, the Mary Pickford, the Rasputin (ok, so this one is infamous), the Scarlett O'Hara, and the Tom & Jerry.
Grab a swizzle stick, rinse out the shaker, and get ready to drink the night away!
