The

Thomas Way is Publisher of The Global Gourmet, and Managing Director of Forkmedia LLC. Thomas is responsible for all website programming and day-to-day operations of the company.

Thomas pioneered his first website, 2way.com (later sold) in 1994. Working with his partner Kate Heyhoe, he developed the web's first cooking site, The electronic Gourmet Guide, which became foodwine.com in 1996. Thomas also developed the early websites for several food-related companies, including Bays English Muffins (Chicago IL), The Mozzarella Company (Dallas, TX) and The Lisa Ekus Group (Northampton, MA).

In 1995, Thomas and Kate launched The electronic Gourmet Guide, Inc. (The eGG) and, in partnership with investor America Online, Inc., developed an AOL proprietary cooking site in the Lifestyles Channel as part of the AOL Greenhouse program. Ted Leonsis (former Vice Chairman of AOL) chose the electronic Gourmet Guide as one of the first six partners for the AOL Greenhouse, along with Motley Fool and NetNoir. Thomas served as President of eGG, Inc. from 1995 through 2004.

In 1996, Thomas and Kate launched The Global Gourmet on AOL, and also developed a related website, globalgourmet.com. In 1998, foodwine.com merged into globalgourmet.com as one site.

Thomas has built websites from the ground up using HTML, XHTML, CMS systems like Textpattern and Wordpress, and scripting languages like Javascript and PHP. He has also maintained dedicated servers; developed SEO, advertising and marketing strategies; and designed sites in Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Prior to 1994, Thomas was an Apple computer and networking consultant working with national companies in Hollywood (Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount) and Pasadena, CA (Jacobs Engineering Group, Parsons Engineering, Jet Propulsion Lab, FEMA). He attended New York University.
