What happened to 2003? Poof! Gone, quicker than George W. Bush at Thanksgiving dinner. I started out the year writing three books. Now, at last, I'm pleased to announce that my second book of the three is released and available.
This is not a cookbook, but instead, it's a fascinating account of one of the nation's most important wine families, and their journey from a hard-working, humble ma-'n'-pa operation to becoming the fourth largest winery. They're one of the few big Napa Valley wineries still run completely by the family, and one of the most philanthropic in the industry. The book covers their migration from Italy, to the speakeasy days of Prohibition, to their accidental creation of the wine that launched their fortune: Sutter Home White Zinfandel. The struggles they endured, always with humility and unbridled generosity, will put a warm glow on your entry into the New Year, and will reinforce that big business doesn't have to be blemished with stock-market scandals or corporate greed. And, if you've recently tasted the award-winning Trinchero wines, you'll definitely want to see how this brand evolved out of Sutter Home's success. Plus, the book explores the challenges of the entire wine industry, and discusses where American wines are heading, in the rocky future of the global wine world.

And coming out January 9: MACHO NACHOS, my third book to be recently released—just in time for Super Bowl! Tune in later this month for more details, or order it now at Amazon (Amazon is already shipping, but other bookstores may not yet have it available until 1/9/03). Here's a preview:

Finally, if you missed it during the holiday madness, my first of the three books came out in November, 2003. With 150 recipes for every part of the chicken, it's the book you'll want to cook from all year long:
From hot wings and drumsticks to warm, cozy stews, the 150 recipes here guarantee tasty chicken dishes as many as three times a week. As always, they capture the same worldly spices and flavors we're known for at the Global Gourmet. Full color photos tantalize the tastebuds, as do recipes for Char Shu Cornish Hens and Belgian Chicken Braised in Beer.

Please support our website by buying my books. The Internet's great, but there's still nothing like a book for cozy reading in bed, outdoors, or by a warm, toasty fire. And if you enjoy good, fun food with worldly flavors, you won't be disappointed. For sample recipes and excerpts, see the links below.
Happy New Year, and Happy Reading!
