Sweet Thoughts
for Mother's Day

Every time I reflect upon my childhood, I am filled with admiration for my mother and mothers everywhere. My mother was a stay-at-home mom, and there were three of us, all two years apart in age. How did she stay even vaguely sane? and how do mothers who work outside the home manage now? Amazing! Happy Mother's Day to you all.

Happy Mother's Day As of this edition, I have been doing this column for three years. It's still challenging, and I still love it. Let's get into the kitchen!

Chocolate Find of the Month:

You've got a craving for some good old-fashioned American style chocolate. Then again, you're tired of the same old thing; you want a little variety. Allow me to suggest May's Chocolate Find, Bridgewater Chocolate. Erik Landegren, pastry chef-turned-chocolatier, offers choice upon choice of handmade, American style beauties, each with a twist. Chocolate-covered graham crackers? You bet, but these have a thin layer of orange or lime cream spread over the top before they are dipped in chocolate. Toffee? of course; roasted almond, buttery Irish, roasted hazelnut, and English, all chocolate-dipped, vie for your attention in his assortments.

Bridgewater Chocolate sells their own unique interpretations of many classic confections. Chocolates in the assortments are of larger-than-average size, which many people like. No preservatives are used. Packaging tends toward an old-fashioned look, with delightful hinged boxes. There are some novel bars, as well—check out the apridamia, coffee crunch, and lime crisp. There's no website, but you can call Bridgewater Chocolate toll-free at (800) 888-8742 or fax them at (860) 350-6582; the company is located at P.O. Box 131, 27 Main Street South, in Bridgewater, CT 06752. Ask for a brochure, and you'll find out how much tasting most of us do with our eyes!

I Love Chocolate wants YOU!!! Do you have a comment, question, or suggestion? How about a recent chocolate "find" you'd like to share? You can contact me at: sdziadwm@[email-address-removed]; I'd like your input on this column. Thanks!

'Til next month,
Yours in chocolate,

Stephanie
