I always know it's the holiday season when pie starts being served with enthusiastic frequency at restaurants and dinner parties. There is something festive and special about pie. If it's good, it's usually decadent and rich, sweet and flaky, or a savory treat that conjurs up a vision of hours spent in the kitchen. A labor of love, some might say, but one that for many brings frustration and fear, or statements like, "I don't do pie" which is sort of like saying, "I'm not a math person"... it just means you haven't tried hard enough.

Fortunately there's The Pie Place, where you may not be able to borrow a cup of sugar, but you can borrow a bit of confidence. The "how to make a pie crust" page offers a step-by-step photographic tutorial of the process, making it seem less daunting an endeavor. Once you've mastered that, head on over to the recipe page where about a hundred recipes are sure to put you on the road to pie mastery. If you stumble along the way, the "tips" page is loaded with pointers from seasoned pie pros. Your tips are always welcome too. So, the next time you're asked to bring something to a holiday gathering, wow 'em with pie.
