Get out your metric conversion chart if you want to prepare these
traditional Irish dishes this St. Patrick's Day-they come straight from the
kitchens of Ireland. Try the hearty Potato and Leek Soup or traditional
Irish Stew. For those wishing for not only the luck o' the Irish, but a
piping hot loaf of bread to wash down with their Guinness Stout, try the
Soda Bread or maybe the soft, rich Potato Cake.
Ever heard of a Dublin Coddle? No one said this sausage, potato, onion,
bacon and herb concoction was healthful, but it's sure to be good. Similar
to a galette or layered potato pancake, this will definitely stay with you
on a cold day. Other recipes to try: Bread Sauce, Guinness Beef Stew, a
buttery Colcannon, Scones and several decadent desserts. If nothing else,
learn how to make a proper Irish coffee and stay warm on a blustery day!
Happy St. Patrick's Day.
