Net Food Digest
This Week on the Web
No it's not a glossy magazine hot off the presses, it's Time-Warner's
Thrive@eats site where you'll find enough health and nutrition information
to keep those New Year's resolutions to stay fit and eat right from
becoming dissolutions.
Formatted like a newsstand periodical, Thrive@eats combines feature
articles with an advice column ("Dear Joan"), recipe database and cookbook
reviews. To get around, either follow the links on each page or use the
contents page as your jumping off point. Think "magazine" and you won't
get lost.
While some articles appear to be written expressly for Thrive@eats, others
are compiled from Health magazine or Sunset to name a few. Interesting and
informative are nutrition-related articles on fighting stress by changing
your eating habits, relieving fatigue through foods and exploring the
connection between a diet rich in fiber and a healthy heart. Want a little
entertainment? Read the article on Olestra (yuck, I had no idea)!
In addition to a keyword-searchable recipe database, a recipe finder and a
cookbook sampler loaded with reviews, Thrive@eats offers the Chile Chooser,
a photographic glossary of chiles with suggested uses, a brief description
of flavor and an accompanying Heat Meter. Rather inventive! Utilize it
as one sure way to make you sweat.
