Kids Food Cyberclub

If you want your kids to make the grade when it comes to good eating, the Kids Food Cyberclub can show them the way. Aimed at 3rd to 5th graders, this educational site on nutrition offers something for everyone including kids, parents, and teachers.
Trying to convince kids to eat right can feel like a losing battle. The Kids only section makes the job a lot easier using interactive quizzes, games, and other entertaining activities. Join the fun in the clubhouse by first checking out Rate Your Plate, where you can figure out whether mealtime goodies meet nutritional requirements. If you've got a green thumb, you'll love Grow It Yourself where you can plough through tips on growing plants indoors and a quiz on how growing food helps the environment.
Love a good mystery? Then check out Nutrition Sleuths
and participate in an Internet scavenger hunt with
a nutrition theme. If you're ready for a snack, browse
through the Club Cookbook or share your favorite by
submitting a recipe like
Richard's Rush Hour Pie.
Parents looking for nutritional inspiration will find it in the Parents Corner. Activities with kids offers all kinds of ways to help kids learn about healthy eating. For example, try including your children in the preparation of your shopping list. This will encourage them to suggest healthful snacks and agree to the items that will be purchased before leaving the house. Or, when preparing a traditional family recipe or recipe for a celebration, invite your child to participate and talk about the significance of the recipe and the celebration.
Teachers can also learn a thing or two at the Kids
Food Cyberclub. In Teachers Corner, you can download
a free guide with lesson plans for all sections of
the site as well as suggested in-class activities and
worksheets. For developing additional in-class and
online activities, there's also a growing list of web
links to nutrition, education, and hunger-related
sites.
When it comes to exploring and learning about nutrition and health, everyone will agree that the Kids Food Cyberclub gets top marks!
