Review by Debbie Mazo

If you're not a fan of breakfast, but want something besides coffee to face the morning, smoothies may be the answer. Although smoothie stands have been popping up all over, these delicious concoctions are easy to make at home especially if you're trying one of the recipes found at Smoothie Central.

Smoothie Central Hosted by Smoothie lover, Reine Penwell, Smoothie Central has it all when it comes to whipping fruit, milk, and yogurt into a frenzy. From tips on improving your smoothie-making skills to ways of increasing the nutritional value of your fruity drinks, Smoothie Central is your best bet for these tasty treats that can be made with just about any fruit combination you like.

Browse through the recipes and you'll find a small, but varied collection including adventurous mixtures of fruits, flavorings, soy milk, and other delicious ingredients. Need to cool off? Then, try the Tangy Summer Blend featuring lemonade, orange-guava juice, and peach yogurt. If you're a peanut butter fan, you'll love the Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie thickened up with two squirts of chocolate syrup and wheat germ. To help you plan your nutritional intake for the day, all recipes include fat and calorie content.

Other juicy highlights of the site are the Smoothie Central mailing list including email notification when new recipes are added and options to download text files containing all of the recipes or individual recipes. Future plans include a Smoothie Central CD-ROM featuring a database of 100 smoothie recipes along with games, educational facts, and a Smooth-o-matic smoothie creation assistant.

Whether frosted or frothy, Smoothie Central will help you get the hang of it when it comes to whipping up great smoothies. You'll never go back to plain old orange juice again!
