With so many recipe sites on the Web, you can easily find yourself wading through hundreds of selections with no end in sight. Setting itself apart from other recipe sites is CompuCook, an interactive cookbook and food advice center. Based on the same concept as the CompuCook kiosks found in supermarkets across the U.S., this site offers more than just recipes with meal planning ideas, food information, cooking tips, and more.

At the touch of your mouse, you can get a great selection of recipes from famous chefs, cookbooks, and CompuCook's own test kitchen. Using the Recipe Finder with its variety of search options, you're bound to find the recipe of your choice. Search for recipes by keyword, ingredient, course, or special categories like South of the Border or One Dish Meals. Recipes are clearly presented with serving suggestions, hints, and photos (if available). Every recipe on the CompuCook site also offers you a printable version of the page by clicking the printer icon.

It's one thing to start eating broccoli yourself, but getting your kids to eat vegetables may be easier than you think. Want some ideas fast? Use the Recipe Quick Find to locate meal suggestions for 30 Minute Meals like Speedy Pasta Primavera with Caesar Salad or Kid Pleasers like Breakfast Pizza. When you've collected your favorites, you can store them in your own password-protected recipe box or cookbook on the CompuCook web site. As you browse recipes on the site, you always have the option to add recipes to your cookbook.

True to its name, the Food Encyclopedia offers information and advice on selecting, handling, storing, and preparing hundreds of fresh food ingredients (you'll also find complete nutritional information on each featured food ingredient). For example, when shopping for bell peppers, look for firm, square, thick-walled peppers with glossy, rich colors; the skin of the pepper should not be wrinkled or soft.
