Chanukah On the Net

Each year, between the end of November and the end of December, Jewish people celebrate the holiday of Chanukah. Also called the Festival of Lights, Chanukah commemorates the rededication of the Jerusalem Temple following victory. Chanukah is a holiday full of historic customs, each with a special significance. One ritual central to the observance of Chanukah involves lighting candles each night in a menorah or eight-branch candelabra with a ninth, elevated branch known as a shamash.
