About the Author

Madhur Jaffrey is the author of several previous cookbooks, including Madhur Jaffrey's Taste of the Far East, which was voted Best International Cookbook and Book of the Year for 1993 by the James Beard Foundation. She has won the award for Best Actress from the Berlin Film Festival for her work in motion pictures and will be seen in four films in 1999, including the starring role in the Merchant Ivory Production Cotton Mary and Flawless, in which she appears opposite Robert DeNiro. Madhur Jaffrey lives in New York's Greenwich Village with her husband, Sanford Alien, a violinist.
